Local school learns how to build a home

Davidsons Homes ‘Grange Meadows’ development at Long Eaton recently hosted a visit from a group of Year 1 and 2 pupils from nearby Ockbrook school. The school has just started running an after school Construction Club and the visit provided some real hands on experience for the pupils, who were aged 5-9. Davidsons provided hard hats and high visibility vests, which the children were able to take back with them.

Phil Clark (Projects Manager at Melbourne) has had a phenomenal week to say the least....
It all started on Monday 21st June, where he was given his second NHBC Pride in the Job Award in 12 months for his hard work on our site, Millbrook at Melbourne. Phil was also recognised for the same award in October 2009 for his outstanding work at our site Nursery Gardens, Burbage and is extremely proud to say the least. He will now go forward for judging to be in the top 100 award which will be announced on Friday 24th September 2010. This is a very prestigious award and something Site Manager’s dream of achieving once – let alone twice in the same year!
To top things off Phil also welcomed into the world his first child on Wednesday 23rd June. His wife, Roz had a beautiful, healthy baby boy born at 9.23pm weighing a fantastic 7lb. Phil’s ‘World Cup baby’ is his first child and as you can imagine Phil and his wife are elated at the new arrival.
Well done on both your achievements this week Phil, long may your success continue!

Melbourne SIte Gets The Go-Ahead

The first phase of a new building project which will eventually provide 130 new Davidsons homes on land to the east of Station Road in Melbourne is now underway.
South Derbyshire District Council recently approved Davdisons' planning applicaition to build 55 new homes on a 3.2 hectare site which forms the first phase of the development. Work on the roads and sewers was programmed to start in mid November, with the first foundation work due in January.
Tim Peach, Design & Development Director, said: " We purchased the Melbourne site in July and hope to provide a living experience there that proves as popular and as complementary to the area as the schemes we already have underway in rural areas of Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. We have worked very closely with the urban designer and planning officers at South Derbyshire District Council. When complete, this site will eventually provide 130 homes."

Davidsons Opening Provides a Haunting Experience

There were spooky goings on at Rauceby on Friday night but there was nothing haunted about the house being visited by Sleaford Mayor Councillor George Grout and a stream of other guests.
The Mayor and his wife, Alice, officially opened a new homes development in the village which is the first project to be undertaken in the area by pioneering new construction group, Davidsons. In true Haloween style the group marked the event by handing out 'Trick or Treat' bags, as well as decorating the site with a ghostly theme. Those who looked around the site were then invited to warm up in the marketing suite with mugs of hot chocolate and other refreshements.
The bespoke homes at Rauceby have been undertaken by the Davidsons Group, which specialises in building rural housing developments unusually based on historical research combined with a study of modern day habits.
When complete, the development of 106 properties, set in the grounds of the former Rauceby Hospital next to the golf course, will include everything from two bedroom apartments to five bedroom detached houses. All the new homes will have traditional Victorian-style exteriors to fit in with surrounding properties whilst still offering a contemporary interior.
The Mayor and his wife wern't the only ones impressed by the new development.
"We had an excellent turnout of people interested in seeing what we are doing" said Jason Glover, Operations Director. "We've had a lot of inquiries from potential buyers who were impressed by the village type feel of the development, but particularly taken with the way the interiors are designed to maximise space and provide a contemporary living style.
"One of the ways in which we differ from other housebuilders is that we believe in involving the buyer in the deisgn of their own rooms, so with that in mind we offer them the chance to choose their own colour paint, tiles and types of units in their kitchens and bathrooms, rather than installing standard features. These homes have has a really wide appeal".
